There are several viewpoints along the way, such as Carvão, and Vista da Princesa, where you can contemplate the landscape accessible only by foot or with a 4X4 vehicle. On sunny days the volcano rim - Cumeeiras Trail - the most dramatic dirt trail in the whole island, it's a must do with stunning views from both sides. Have a visit to the local church and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the village located right inside the crater. In the way back to Ponta Delgada, a trail around the lake edge, passing through a small peninsula covered by beautiful trees and flowers gives you a last chance to capture the wilderness of this immaculate place in Earth on your camera.
